Looking for a new bike?

You couldn’t pick a better time to shop for a new road bike. Today, manufacturers offer more models than ever in a wider variety of price points. And component companies make an exceptional array of top-notch wheels, brakes and shifting systems that operate like never before. For example, it’s possible to get 30-speed drivetrains that shift blink quick, and wheelsets so light pedaling is effortless. In fact, there are so many attractive choices today, that if you just walked into our store, you might be overwhelmed.

Don’t be. Having a lot of choices is a wonderful thing because it drastically increases the likelihood you’ll find the perfect bike — as long as you know a little about what’s available.

To help, we’ve put together this comprehensive guide for finding the ideal road rig. We explain the decisions you need to make and offer advice on everything from frame materials and wheels to gearing and component choices. To start, though, you need to do some self analysis (therapist not required).

Triathlon bikes are are designed for hard-core solo riding on paved streets and going super fast!

Steeper Seat Tube

A steeper seat tube angle, a “forward” seat post or both, position the riders hips further forward in comparison to the bottom bracket where the cranks are located. This shifts the emphasis from the major muscles used in the biking portion from the hamstrings to the quadriceps.

Aero bars / bullhorns

Maintaining an aerodymanic position helps a triathlete spend the majority of the bike race riding at a steady state speed.

Staying low in the aero drops also relieves pressure on the athletes hands and arms with the upper body weight supported by the skeleton…a nice comfort when arms may be tired from the swim.

Reduced Wind Drag

As bicycle speeds approach 18-20mp or more, reducing drag becomes a significant part of improving bike leg performance. Small design elements contribute to the “space age” look of triathlon and time trial bikes. Examples included contoured frame tubes with teardrop shaped cross sections, aerodynamic water bottles, water bottle cages stored behind the seat, rather than on the down tube and even frame “cut outs” allowing the rear wheel to take advantage of reduced drag by tucking in behind the seat tube.

Attracted by friends’ tales of sweet single track and jaw-dropping overlooks? You’ve got the mountain-bike bug. Good for you. Now’s a great time to be shopping and we’ve got a showroom full of sweet fat-tire flyers that’ll satisfy all your dirt dreams. Looking to put a little excitement into your life? Want to venture off road to escape traffic and congestion?

Mountain Bikes have exploded in popularity over the past twenty years. These bikes have wide tires, usually with knobby treads and a stout frame, and are designed to handle the rugged trails without disintegrating. The biggest revolution in these off-road warriors is suspension. With so many options available, the suspension on the bike offers you comfort, safety and support. Getting the right suspension for the type of riding you’ll be doing is critical, and our professional staff will help you make the right selection.

Mountain bikes do not go as fast as road bikes, which is a trade-off for their durability along with a more comfortable riding position. You sit higher on these bikes, more upright with the straight handlebars, which is often a happier choice for many people who’ll be doing most of their riding on trails and bike paths.

A fatbike is an off-road bicycle with oversized tires, typically 3.8 in (97 mm) or larger and rims 2.6 in (66 mm) or wider, designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft unstable terrain, such as snow, sand, bogs and mud.  Fatbikes are built around frames with wide forks and stays to accommodate the wide rims required to fit these tires. The wide tires can be used with inflation pressures as low as 340 hPa (5 psi) to allow for a smooth ride over rough obstacles. A rating of 550–690 hPa (8–10 psi) is suitable for the majority of riders.

A cyclo-cross bicycle is a bicycle specifically designed for the rigors of a cyclo-cross race.  Cyclo-cross bicycles roughly resemble the racing bicycles used in road racing. The major differences between the two are the frame geometry, and the wider clearances that cyclo-cross bikes have for their larger tires and mud and other debris that they accumulate.

Looking for a fun, comfortable way to be outdoors? Need a quick, stress-free way to escape gridlock for errands? How about a great way to exercise and chat with family and friends at the same time? The right bicycle offers all these benefits. So what’s holding you back?

The most comfortable types of bicycles are naturally called Comfort bikes. And, there are also comfortable models called Hybrid bikes. In fact Comfort and Hybrid bikes are so luxuriously plush you may have difficulty deciding which suits you best.
